Dinnteco America aims to build OEM, aftermarket share with lightning protection technology

Tech firm embarks on growth initiative leveraging new hardware platform designed to prevent lightning strikes, improving safety and reducing damage to onboard systems

Florida, US-based lightning protection technology firm Dinnteco America is looking to grows its share of the leisure marine OEM and refit markets in the US with a newly announced divide that it says can prevent lightning strikes on vessels. 

The company’s new electromagnetic charge compensation device (DDCE) is designed to protect vessels against lightning strikes by emitting a stream of both positively and negatively charged electromagnetic fields. The company says the activity disrupts the formation of charged vertical pathways which are instrumental in allowing lightning strikes to occur. 

Introducing the system at Palm Beach International Boat Show, Todd Tally, general manager of Dinnteco America primary distribution partner, Atlantic Marine Electronics, said the company is engaged in discussions with boat builders interested in adding the firm’s lightning protection system to new product.

Tally algo told IBI the firm has received significant interest form refit yards as well. “There is notable interest from the aftermarket across various categories, including companies inquiring on behalf of boat owners who have experienced a past lightning strike, those seeking to proactively add the system, and those looking to benefit from insurance incentives one installed, “says Tally. “To ensure these systems are installed correctly and provide full vessel protection, we are rapidly expanding out network of installing dealers nationwide.”

He adds that the compact DDCE is relatively easy to install on a range of leisure vessels. The compact device combines stainless Steel, polyoxometalates and saline to provide up to 100-metre protection and ensure long-lasting performance while meeting all RoHS standards.
